Cool Construction Stuff

Posted in Uncategorized on January 16, 2009 by Ken

This website had a few cool things. First it had a versatile use of bamboo. Bamboo was being made into 2 x 4’s and used to build bridges and school houses. Second was the use of hemp and other natural goods in concrete. It hasn’t been used for a weight bearing wall, but other uses have varied. Third on this page was the use of paper tubing for architectural design. Something so simple and cheap is being used for incredible structures.

Cool Saw

Posted in Uncategorized on January 16, 2009 by Ken

If I had an unlimited budget this would be a must-have. I think concrete chain saws are the perfect accessory for the guy that needs to have one of every tool. With this tool you can say “yeah, I can cut that and just about anything else you might need”.  If there is anyone that has used one of these tools I would love to hear about it.  The web site is http://www.icsbestway.com/index.asp then go to the products page but here are some pictures form the web site.

Rob this is Cool.

Recycled Paper

Posted in Uncategorized on January 16, 2009 by Ken
This is kinda someone elses blog about reclyced paper used as aninsulation product. Not that I’m super big into reclycled products or

hugging trees, I thought that this product seemed very beneficial,

being inexpensive and aboundant at the same time. And I believe that

recycled paper insulation have very competitive R values in relation to

that of popular fiberglass insulation.

Hopefully this is a “cool” enought product to be put on the blog space!

This web site talks about a new (at least to me) style of protecting wood from water, bugs, and fungus.

Helium Generator

A helium inflated wind generator idea. Pretty cool on the scale of cool construction ideas. I am not sold but it does illustrate a technology that can be moved and used in different locations. http://www.magenn.com/index.php
