Grove GTK1100

The Grove GTK1100 telescopic tower crane, unveiled at Bauma, has completed its inaugural lift at a jobsite in Germany, following an extensive test programme at the manufacturers Wilhelmshaven plant.

The first unit was delivered in the past few weeks to Wiesbauer, the Bietigheim-Bissingen based crane rental company that helped develop the GTK.

Moving monolithic stones singlehandedly

We are talking about brick masonry and stone construction this week. How did we ever manage before we had the combustion engine? You will be surprised how easy it actually is. Meet Wally, he only uses tools of sticks and stones. Watch him work with 1 ton peices of stone and move them into place by himself.

The New Freeway Barrier

Bamboo Bridge 

In China bamboo is used for furniture, artwork, building scaffolding, panels for concrete casting and now, truck bridges.Yan Xiao, a professor at the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering is the designer of a new span in the village of Leiyang, Hunan Province, which formally opens for traffic December 12.
